Brightmore of South Charlotte Honors Residents of the Month

They’re role models, friends, and helpers.
Brightmore of South Charlotte boasts a roster of exceptional residents who contribute their energy and talents to the senior living community’s engaging lifestyle. They do so by being especially welcoming, helping with programs, serving on committees, and more.
In order to acknowledge their contributions, Brightmore of South Charlotte
officially selects and honors a Resident of the Month. Abby Vaca, Life Enrichment
Director, launched the program in January 2023. The initiative is a way to
“recognize residents that go above and beyond within the community or for other
residents,” she said, adding, “It’s a way of lifting spirits and spreading happiness
and positivity.”
Each month, the residents vote on individuals they’d like honored. When the Resident of the Month is identified, it’s to great fanfare. Their pictures are posted on a flyer that everyone sees, on Facebook and in an internal newsletter. “We get a lot of positive comments from the residents and their family members, saying ‘well deserved.’ They also often say how important the selected resident is to them,” Abby said.
Loving it when she lets residents know that they’ve been chosen, Abby said, “It is so sweet how thankful and bashful they are when I call. They can never believe that they were selected. But they definitely each deserve the honor!”
