Recently at Brightmore of South Charlotte we had the pleasure of hosting Gene Stowe, a local author and former reporter for the Charlotte Observer. After 15 years of teaching, Gene returned to freelance writing in 2006 when he published Inherit the Land: Jim Crow Meets Miss Maggie’s Will.
Gene joined our residents for an afternoon of storytelling and discussion about the rich history of Charlotte that is featured in his writing.
